Grand Canyon Village is a census-designated place on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, in Coconino County, Arizona, with a population of 2,004 at the 2010 census. It exists wholly to accommodate visitors to the canyon, and its origins trace to the railway completed from Williams to the South Rim by the Santa Fe Railway in 1901; many of its structures date from that period. The village's historic core is a National Historic Landmark District, designated for its implementation of town design, and includes numerous landmark park structures, many themselves National Historic Landmarks or listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The design is notable for its integration with the canyon landscape, its use of National Park Service Rustic elements, and the idiosyncratic design of concessioner buildings such as the El Tovar Hotel.
