Why category drives the ranking

Category is not just a browsing aid here. It carries the two judgements the ranking depends on: how significant a kind of place is by default, and how far it counts as a tourism destination at all. Both are declared as data and rendered on the methodology page, so a reader can check the weighting rather than take the ordering on trust.
