Bartlett Lake is a reservoir on the Verde River in Arizona, formed by the damming of the river and lying downstream and to the south of Horseshoe Reservoir. It was built between 1936 and 1939 by the Salt River Project and was the first reservoir constructed on the Verde; the dam and the lake are named after Bill Bartlett, a government surveyor. The lake lies 48 miles from downtown Phoenix and 17 miles north-east of Carefree, within the Tonto National Forest, and its recreation facilities are managed by the Forest Service. Spring wildflowers are often abundant in the surrounding area after wet winters.
