A 1937 University of Arizona auditorium that hosted Martin Luther King Jr and other speakers, renovated in 1985 and renamed for the centenary.
Centennial Hall is an auditorium on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson, designed by campus architect Roy Place in the university's signature red brick and opened in 1937 as a venue for musical programmes, stage plays and lectures. From 1947 to 1984 it hosted the Tucson Sunday Evening Forum, whose speakers included Martin Luther King Jr, Eleanor Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Jackie Robinson and Walter Cronkite. It was renovated in 1985 at a cost of more than $4 million and renamed for the university's centenary. The hall is operated by UApresents, the university's professional performing arts programme, which brings theatre, dance, and classical, jazz and world music to southern Arizona alongside its continuing use for university lectures. In 2010 it hosted Wicked as the first Broadway in Tucson production staged there, in the first partnership between that series and UApresents.
