The DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun Historic District is a series of buildings in a natural desert setting in Tucson, Arizona, near the junction of Swan Road and Skyline, built by the artist Ettore 'Ted' DeGrazia (1909-1982) and now a museum of his work open to the public. Construction began in 1951 with the open-air Mission in the Sun, followed by a series of expressionist adobe buildings; the gallery itself was built in 1965, with cactus flooring, exposed wood beams and rafters. It replaced an earlier DeGrazia building put up in 1944 at Prince and Campbell Roads. Artists and friends who spent time at the new gallery included Thomas Hart Benton, Olaf Wieghorst, Jack Van Ryder, Pete Martinez and Ross Santee. The 10-acre property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. The Mission in the Sun, dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe and to the memory of Padre Eusebio Kino, was hand-painted throughout with murals by DeGrazia; a fire on 30 May 2017 damaged its walls, murals and roof, destroying 80 per cent of the murals, and the restored chapel reopened in the autumn of 2019 with some of the fire damage deliberately retained.
