Guevavi Mission, formally La Misión de San Gabriel de Guevavi, was founded by the Jesuit missionaries Eusebio Kino and Juan María de Salvatierra in 1691 near present-day Tumacácori, Arizona. Later missionaries renamed it after San Rafael and San Miguel in turn, giving rise to its common historical name, Mission Los Santos Ángeles de Guevavi; in O'odham it is known as Ge'e Wawhia, or Big Well/Spring. The mission served as a district headquarters for the Jesuits.
