Casa Grande Ruins National Monument preserves a group of Classic Period Hohokam structures at Coolidge, north-east of Casa Grande. The Classic Period ran from about 1150 to 1450 CE, and the four-storey earthen building at the centre of the site was raised around 1350. It was the first archaeological site in the United States to receive federal protection, in 1892, and a steel canopy has sheltered the structure since 1932. It recorded 104,429 recreation visits in 2024.
