Chevelon Creek Bridge

Chevelon Creek Bridge is a historic road bridge about 12 miles south-east of Winslow, in Navajo County, Arizona. A steel Warren pony truss carrying a road over Chevelon Creek, it was built on the first permanent road connecting Holbrook, the seat of Navajo County, with Winslow. That road was regionally important in northern Arizona and formed a segment of an early national highway, at a time when automobile traffic was growing and national roads were first being formed. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as a rare design in Arizona, as part of an early transnational roadway, as one of the first bridges built by the state after statehood in 1912, and for being in nearly original condition.
