Mesa Historical Museum

The Mesa Historical Museum opened in 1987, founded by the Mesa Historical Society to preserve the history of Mesa, Arizona. Its buildings are among its largest artefacts: the main building was constructed in 1913-14 as the Lehi School, in what was then the community of Lehi, and the auditorium was built in the 1930s as a Works Progress Administration project; the two-building complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001 as the Lehi School. Exhibits cover the history of Mesa, including a replica adobe one-room schoolhouse and a large collection of historic agricultural equipment. In 2008 the museum developed 'Play Ball: The Cactus League Experience', an exhibition on the history of spring training baseball in Arizona that has since expanded to locations throughout Maricopa County.
