Hunts Mesa

Hunts Mesa is a rock formation in Monument Valley, in northern Arizona south of the Utah border, at an elevation of 6,370 feet. It forms the south-eastern edge of Monument Valley and the northern edge of Little Capitan Valley. With Mystery Valley it is one of two interior destinations within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park from which the sandstone formations can be seen at a distance, and a Navajo guide is required to walk to either. It is not reached through the park's general entrance but by way of the sand dunes north-east of Kayenta. On 16 October 1984 a United States Air Force B-52G bomber crashed on the mesa, killing two of its seven crew.
