Lochiel is a populated place and former border crossing in southern Santa Cruz County, Arizona, about 25 miles east of Nogales, and is largely abandoned. The townsite lies in the south-western part of the San Rafael Valley on Washington Gulch, about 1.5 miles west of the Santa Cruz River. It was first settled in the late 1870s and was mostly abandoned by 1986. The settlement served the ranches of the San Rafael Valley and the mining towns of Washington Camp and Duquesne, in the Patagonia Mountains about five miles to the north-west up Washington Gulch.
