Granite Mountain, known in Yavapai as ʼWi:kvte:wa, is a 7,628-foot mountain in Yavapai County, Arizona, covering roughly 12 square miles. It was once known as Mount Gurley, after John A. Gurley, the first governor of Arizona Territory. Its south-west face carries a sheer granite cliff about 500 feet high, used for rock climbing. The mountain lies in the Granite Mountain Wilderness, managed as part of the Prescott National Forest, and stands at the northern end of the Sierra Prietas, bordered by Skull Valley to the west, the Santa Maria Mountains to the north-west and Williamson Valley to the east.
